Whether it be Facebook, Twitter, e-mails, Google+, BBM
or simply Whatsapp, our normal everyday lives just cannot seem to ever run
smoothly without social networks. Indeed it has become impossible for the
business world to function without the new media and its ever changing
technology, but then what has really become of our interpersonal relationships

Take time for a second and dig deep into your
thoughts. When last did you remember a friend’s birthday without the help of a
Facebook notification? How often do people meet (if not online) and actually
get to know more of each other by spending time in the flesh? HARDLY! Today getting to know more of
each other has become a BBM or Whatsapp activity than anything else. Well yes,
our ways of living have changed in so many ways and we no longer live in the
era of love letters. Even so, so much seems to have been left in that intimate
era- that hardcore warm human love, that
burning spirit of Ubuntu. Life today? Its only known to be online. Every hour life just seems to pass us by and many seem not to be bothered, real life just doesn't cut it anymore. Whether this
new change is good or bad, It is really dependent on our different views of
life.
So when time is on your side, and life seems to have

its funny how we have friends on facebook,people that we dont even greet when we see them on the street. im afraid the abovementioned social networks are now making us live a false life. :(

ReplyDeleteJaah! neh, this is scarry. Social media has made the world so small yet unfriendly because you can keep in touch with your family and friends without having to touch and smell them. I call "Techno Robbery" I t has robbed us so much of our real human character.

DeleteIt has advantage of always being in contact with people but also the disadvantage of criminals and perverts preying on innocent victims.
ReplyDeleteSusan what is sad is that nobody is responsible for the content that goes into the net, or even who uses it... we are all in danger somehow because it seems to become easier by the day to go into peoples' private spaces
DeleteThis just makes me think of what some supposedly "relationship expert" guy once said on Facebook (IRONIC), he said that married couples should not chat over social media when they are apart because once they are together at home they will have nothing to say to each other. Personally I disagree with him because when something good or bad has happened to me I want to tell it to my husband while its still so fresh to get that sense of assurance and support....so lets use social media to bridge the gaps and distances of our relationships but not to fill and fulfill our relationships on social media.

ReplyDeleteThis is scary but very true. I remember in high school one of our teachers told us that he saw a group of teenagers sitting around the table at a resturant in SILENCE, why? because all of them were glued to their cell phones chatting. And I understand what Simphiwe means about bridging the gap, sometimes you cannot be with your partner 24/7 or maybe you will go without seeing each other for 2 weeks, in that period social networks will help the two of you stay in touch

DeleteTruelly speaking, if i were to loose my phone, i would go crazy. You the joke that is on Facebook saying our private parts have become public and our cellphones have become private...well thats the exact tru. People dont mind loosing their virginity or family and lovers but not their phones.

ReplyDeleteWell, I'm always Facebook and I must say it has given me a social platform of creating new friendships, which have lasted some as long as 3 years. Now that I'm actually thinking of it, I chat with my friends online for hours in a day, more than my friends at school (face-face interaction).
